Radisson Rewards is not typically a headline-catching program, but it can be the very best program for some types of hotel award stays — especially in Europe, where it offers family rooms on points when other programs often don’t.
While it didn’t officially make TPG‘s list of underrated credit cards, the Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature is a card that has held a long-term spot in my own collection. Right now the Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature is offering the largest welcome bonus we have ever seen — 120,000 points after you spend $3,000 in the first 90 days. Previously, the highest bonus was 100,000 total points. There is a $75 annual fee. Information not provided by US Bank, collected independently by TPG.
TPG values Radisson Rewards points at 0.4 cents each, making 120k bonus points worth $480. That doesn’t sound overly impressive compared to some other offers out there. However, you can do well with your Radisson Rewards points in Europe, and specifically within Scandinavia, where Radisson properties are more prevalent and a notch above what you often find in the United States. To give some context, the Radisson award chart ranges from 9,000 – 70,000 points per night for awards in standard rooms.
My family has used Radisson Rewards points to stay at the ski-in Radisson Blu Resort Trysil in Norway, along with Radisson award stays in Oslo, London, Edinburgh and beyond. Here’s a recent look at the Radisson RED in Cape Town.
The Park Plaza Westminister Bridge near Big Ben in London can house two adults and two children in a family room for 87,500 Radisson Rewards points per night. This is noteworthy, as family rooms bookable on points are a pretty rare unicorn in Europe. (Here is how to find rooms using points for families in London and Paris.)
Sadly, if you like to use your Radisson Rewards points closer to home, there are not currently any Radisson properties in New York City. However, there is a 320-room flagship property on the way in Times Square, potentially as early as later this year. While we don’t know award pricing (or an opening date) for that property just yet, the Radisson Blu in Chicago goes for 70,000 points per night. I’m personally pretty excited about the Radisson Blu Anaheim near Disneyland (with a rooftop pool) that is said to be on the way in mid-2020.
Depending on where and how you travel, getting the Radisson Rewards Visa while the bonus is at its highest-ever level of 120k points may be a good idea. I’ve had the card for years because of the 40,000 bonus points awarded at each renewal. Those who actively use the card can earn up to three E-Certs, one with each $10,000 in spending put on the card each year. Note that those E-Certs are only valid for hotel stays within the United States.
Those with the cobranded credit card can share Radisson Rewards points for free with any other Radisson Rewards member.
I have not seen a published end date for this increased 120k Radisson Rewards Visa Signature bonus, but the most common bonus is 85,000 points, so this is a real increase. If this isn’t the right card for you, you can also check out these other cards offering 100,000+ bonus points.
