Earn Up to 70,000 Bonus SkyMiles With These Delta Offers

Even though several limited-time offers on the Gold and Platinum Delta credit cards just ended last week, a new set has appeared in its place, and one of them is particularly intriguing, especially if you’re a small business owner who does a lot of travel on Delta and you want elite status on the airline.

Now through November 7, you’ll earn 70,000 bonus SkyMiles plus 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) on the Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card, which is the highest offer we’ve ever seen on this card. You can also earn 50,000 bonus SkyMiles and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles, plus a $100 statement credit, on the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express.

If you’re a heavy Delta flyer, the top-of-the-line Delta Reserve Business Amex is a card you’ll want to consider. It comes right now with 70,000 bonus SkyMiles plus 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles when you spend $5,000 in the first three months. Based on TPG’s valuations, 70,000 SkyMiles are worth $840, which is a pretty nice haul, and Delta has been on fire with various SkyMiles flash sales as of late, so it shouldn’t be too hard to use these miles. The 10,000 bonus MQMs will be helpful to anyone chasing elite status on Delta, and if you need more MQMs, the Delta Reserve also offers a Miles Boost feature, where you’ll earn 15,000 bonus MQMs and 15,000 bonus SkyMiles after you reach $30,000 in eligible purchases on your card in a calendar year.

With a $450 annual fee, the Delta Reserve Business Amex isn’t a cheap card, and it shouldn’t be your everyday spend card since it only earns 2 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else. But it’s the only card in the Delta Amex lineup that comes with access to all Delta Sky Clubs (though the Platinum Card® from American Express also has similar Sky Club access). You can bring in two guests for a cost of $29 each, and you must be flying Delta to use the lounge, though starting in 2019, you’ll need to be flying Delta or one of its partners on the same day with any form of Sky Club membership.

The Delta Reserve also features a free round-trip companion certificate at your first anniversary and again at each annual renewal, which can be used in domestic first class, Delta Comfort+ or economy, with taxes and fees capped at $75. You’ll also get Zone 1 priority boarding on Delta, along with a free first checked bag for you and up to eight companions and a 20% discount on inflight purchases. Also, the Delta Reserve has no foreign transaction fees.

Finally, with this offer, you’ll also receive a 0% introductory APR for the first 6 months on purchases, after which the APR rises to 17.49%-26.49% depending on your creditworthiness. As always, we here at TPG don’t recommend carrying any credit card balances, but if you’re forced to do so, make sure you’re taking advantage of a low-interest offer like this one and that you pay it off in full before the rate jumps.

Platinum Delta Business Amex

If $450 is more than you want to spend on a business credit card, the premium Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Amex is offering 50,000 bonus SkyMiles plus 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) when you spend $3,000 in the first three months, plus a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new card within your first 3 months. This isn’t the highest offer we’ve ever seen on this card, but it’s better than the standard 30,000-mile offer, and based on TPG’s valuations, 50,000 SkyMiles are worth $600, so you’ll earn a total of $700 with the statement credit.

The Platinum Delta Business Amex comes with a significantly lower $195 annual fee, and while you won’t get Sky Club access with this card, you’ll still get a companion certificate good for round-trip domestic travel in the main cabin (but not first class like the Delta Reserve). And if you’re working toward Delta elite status, you can also take advantage of the Platinum Delta Amex’s Miles Boost feature, which isn’t quite as generous as the Delta Reserve, but which still offers 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 bonus MQMs for spending $25,000 in a calendar year, and another 10,000 miles and 10,000 MQMs after spending $50,000 in the same year. Like the Delta Reserve, the Platinum Delta Business Amex has no foreign transaction fees.

Gold Delta Amex

Finally, if you just want a basic Delta card, both the personal Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express are offering 30,000 Delta SkyMiles after you spend $1,000 on the card in the first 3 months, plus a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new card within your first 3 months. These are the standard welcome offers on these cards, so they’re nothing special, but based on TPG’s most recent points valuations, 30,000 SkyMiles are worth $360.

Both the personal and business versions of these cards earn 2x miles on Delta purchases, and 1 mile per dollar on everything else. You also get several Delta-specific travel benefits, including a free checked bag, priority boarding and 20% off in-flight purchases. The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year on both cards, and neither card carries foreign transaction fees.

Bottom Line

If you’ve had your eye on the Delta Reserve Business card, this is definitely the moment to act. It’s the first time we’ve seen 70,000 bonus miles publicly available on this card, and for heavy Delta travelers, access to the Sky Club lounge is a great perk (though remember that if you have a Platinum Amex card, you already have the same benefit). The cheaper Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Amex is also available with an increased offer, though we’ve seen higher, so you’ll have to decide whether you want to act or can wait to see if a better offer comes along down the line. But if you want or need Delta SkyMiles right now, along with extra perks when you’re flying Delta, grab one of these cards before the bonuses disappear on November 7.
